PostSubject: Just another mk4 golf among the 1000's   Thu Apr 18 2013, 04:20

Sooo brief intro. Mainly on Edition38(Monkay) came across this forum by random. Some users may recognise my old car from a couple tunnel runs & old nw dubs meets

My first car, the old mk2
on the way home

The mk3 that followed, which was stolen before I even got a chance to wash it Laughing

The next mk3 vr

& the most recent one which started as 2.0 8v then was a VR and then was a sold as a 20vt Laughing

I had these wheels to go on but ended up selling the car before I got the wheels on

So after 3 mk3's although I always said I'd never want to own a mk4. I changed my mind and set out to look for one. Went to see two in the same day both black 3 doors one heated black & one heated cream. The cream leather one was a dog, the engine management light was on & the guy was saying dont worry! Laughing. After he saw the same engine in my mk3 though he soon cute out the bullpoop.

So here it is. Mk4 gti AGU 130 odd something on the clock.Bog standard, In good condition still have the 6 cd changed & first aid kit which I was quite shocked at, ( easily amused ).

First impressions engine is a little quicker than I expected. Still slow compared to the mk3 naturally. Cant fault the drive though very comfortable & smooth. Handles like a boat, cant wait for coilovers lol. No plans to touch anything under the bonnet for quite a while. Just want something that looks nice this time.

Bought these to finish off polishing, but then changed my mind want 18s not 17s lol & sold them

Ordered the coilovers within first week with adjustable drop links & a couple other bits BUT new wheels are due to be deliviered at the end of this month so everything will go on together. The suspense is a killer!

So had some spare time the other day set about sticking a couple little bits onto the car. Nothing major just suttle changes. Indicators, Lamin x tints, de badged grill, HID kit & I was going to change the door pins but I cant figure out how to get them out

Fairly surprised at how much easier the mk3 was to take apart as opposed to the 4, definitely a longer job. Also managed to snap two bolts for the bumper in the process <_< I was hoping the bonnet bra would hide the badge recess in the bonnet until I got it welded up but it hasnt Laughing so I may go back to the badged grill at some point. Very pleased with how the lamin x looks but not so pleased with my tinting skills lol so will be ordering another set at some point & redoing them, but there ok for the time being. Just need the wheels to come now & get the coilovers on now!! IMPATIENT!

Also on the look out for some wind deflectors, a set of US rears & a 4 motion splitter

Nice bunch of cars you've had there dude!!!! So what wheels have ya got on order for the mk4.... or is it a secret??

Just out of interest, how much did you sell those polished RH ZW1's you had? also were the 2 wheel at the front 5x100 and the ones at the rear a 512 stud pattern?

its incredible how cheap you can pick up a set of RH's nowadays!!!!

I remember a few years ago when a decent polished set would set you back about a grand

So i had ordered the new 3sdms but with all the messing about with dates etc I changed my mind and thus

Finally managed to wind the back down after giving the car a good clean. Just took the adjusters out. Theres still a gap so I may go for a bigger profile tyre at the rear, but at the same time im not hugely fussed about the gap it gives me a little peace of mind that I can have some weight in the back. The front can still come down a bit but without a chassis notch im not going to risk it.

Only got crappy iphone pics at the moment

You can see that gap alot clearer here maybe i'll just space the rear out isntead decisions decisions lol

So list as follows will now be

Camber adjustable top mounts (Maybe)

Wind deflectors

Us spec rear lights or all blacks#

4 motion splitter

A carectere spoiler im trying to track down but is proving impossible to find!
