PostSubject: New Hemel Mk2    Thu Jul 22 2010, 08:16

Hey peeps,

Just thought I'd say hello in case I see any of you guys around town, I live down in Apsley and have just got myself another Mk2 Very Happy

It's a red big bumper 8v, reasonably low on polished porsche 928s - and I love it. Give me a wave or a beep if you see me (my reg is J*** MLF) Razz

It's been pretty well looked after, but it's not perfect and has plenty to keep me busy for now. First job was last weekend, I stripped & replaced the half-leather rainbow interior for a much tidier original 90' spec cloth interior, well pleased with it. Also de-stickered it, and it also previously had a sub & amp install in there, & showcage, so I have some further interior tidying to do getting everything back to OEM. Exterior-wise I just have some smoothing & tidying to do, hopefully I'll get it all done this summer. Engine-wise I'm not too fussed, if this old 8v keeps running I'm happy, its good on fuel too considering its done 170k !

This is the latest in a string of cars, but I'm hoping to hang on to this one for more than a few months. I've been VW through & through for most of my driving life, but have thrown a lot of money at a Mini Cooper S & a Honda S2000 this year, & am now scaling back my car spending & running this cheap 8v & tidying it up bit by bit. Well chuffed to be back in a mk2 Smile

Little picture from the last owner, will get some of my own up soon

See you around ,

Jim

Hey Martin

I've got the old interior stacked in my flat in Apsley at the moment Razz

The drivers seat covering looks good but I think its a passenger seat that someone's bodged onto a driver's base, the passenger seat & bench are in fine shape. Bench also has some leather headrests in it, not sure if these are original items - haven't actually had a good look at them yet. Got some door cards & an old parcel shelf (which has had leather stapled over it to match the bench too).

Let me know if you want to have a look at the interior mate, I wouldn't want much for it - I'm on the lookout for a standard parcel shelf too btw Smile

Thanks for the welcome, but bad news on the Mk2 front to be honest mate, I swapped it a few weeks back ... for this...

Couldn't get 2 more different cars really! Done quite a lot of miles in it already, travelling about a bit at the moment, & I'm grateful for all the little luxuries in there Smile

I don't suppose it'll be the last Mk2 I own, although I've got to keep this motor until next year at least (orders from the GF, this is my 4th car this year), then I might go for a Mk3 VR6 again, I really did like my last one.
