PostSubject: Riko's 'Looong Golf'   Sat Apr 17 2010, 14:08

As promised here's my progress so far...

After owning a MK3 Ibiza cupra (200bhp+) for 2 years, I thought I'd buy a house but the car had to go due to fuel costs etc.

Picked this beut' up 2 months ago and we have a real love-hate relationship at the moment!! Sad

She's a beastly 90bhp TDi, getting 200 miles to quarter (yarp!) of a tank this week! Had to buy a new MAF already and giving her an oil filter & oil change but still getting a terrible judder in 4th & 5th around 2k revs, so still investigating that one!

Anyway here's what we all enjoy most, some pics...

As you can see there are a few subtle mods:
Vento front end with extended bonnet and wings
De-badged late vento grill
GTi arches & skirts
Roof rails removed
Matt black roof
Smoothed boot (handle, number plate surround, wiper)
Cut down, tail lights with boot lid extension
GTi interior and black trims

There's probably a few more bits i can't think of!

Plans for the future are to sort the engine (even toyed with dropping a VR lump in!). US spec side markers are on the cards,.
Also on the look out for some dishy 15's asap to get her looking like her former glory

Can you believe the coincidence of the road sign... Laughing

Thanks for 'avin a butchers, looking forward to your opinions and help along the way!

Hmm no I haven't? Wasn't aware lambda sensor could cause it, thanks tho I'll check it out. It's running a decat so I presume there's only a pre-cat sensor? There's a couple of valves etc I need to check for clogging aswell.

Nothing comes up on vag com apart from the MAF which I've changed already. Would it be stupid to think of engine mounts? It almost feels like the engines got excessive movement?

There's defo something up with the g'box as first gear is a bugger to get in, sometimes goes into third. There's not always a positive selection between 1st 2nd &third! Mad

Well starting to make my mark on it now...

15x7 et25

Maybe not as much impact as the ATS before, but I gota start somewhere! Also enquiring about resprays, what colour would you go for? It's not particularly exciting but I have a thing for black cars and can't say I've seen many mk3 estates in that colour?

I now have another situation...

I offered the wheel up today but it doesn't sit on the hub! Measured the centre bore of the wheel under the impression it was vw 57.1, and it is.
Looking at the hub/disks it measures nearly 80mm. It might make more sense with pics

And the back of the old wheels seem to have a lips cut in to suite?

Am I missing something here as it's confusing me! Should the disks have all that lip on them?

Need some help...

NON VAG Discs?

Rover/Mini/Vauhall and a few others have 4x100 spacing with differing centre-bores

Thats a good call actually, I'll have to check what the centre bore is of some of those you mentioned.

I'm feeling black the more I think about it, I'm taking it to a garage to get a rough idea on 'mates rates'.
