| I thought I'd post a few pics in here, as proof that I don't diet on just Rice...
This has been mine for 14 years, and I've been looking to change it for ages!
At Stonor, while I was parked next to Calimori, a lady said to her fella, 'See he cleans her car for her' while I was wiping it down. So that was it...
COLOUR CHANGE TIME!
But 1st I have to change the doors, front and rear valances, wings, decklid to a vented type, bonnet to the year correct short type, rear bumper mounts and inner wing sections, repair gutter rot, let in a section of uncut dash where mines been butchered for as modern stereo, and generally prep it all nice and smooth.
I have the week of the 18th august to get it in paint. My dad has agreed to do it as a one off. (he hates spraying cars now!)
All this is to be done in the evenings and weekend, at my garage next to my 2nd floor flat, and painted in a gazebo!
I'm a bit scared, I've never done this much in such a short time span before.
Stripped down

Both rear bumper mounts welded on, valance aligned

All welded on and the last trial fit. It all lines up! PHEW.

More to follow hopefully!

| Awesome, can I come over and take a look? You have got so much done already and I always love a step by step build with pictures. She is going to be one classy car when she is done. _________________ Cars: MK4 Golf GTi 1.8 20v T, 1974 Flat Screen Beetle Bikes: Honda VFR Vtec, Honda 76' 400/4 I test things. ;-) I can change my signature. |

| My lips are sealed but it will look very desirable when it is done. The current lilac looks very nice next to my bug, they are both bright colours but Stu has had a niggle about it since I have known him. Time to scratch that itch. _________________ Cars: MK4 Golf GTi 1.8 20v T, 1974 Flat Screen Beetle Bikes: Honda VFR Vtec, Honda 76' 400/4 I test things. ;-) I can change my signature. |

| Cheers dudes.
colour will be a secret until its in paint, then the interior colour will be a secret until its in.
It'll work I'm sure.
Wire brushed the rust yesterday. 4 bits 1 inch long! I'm a tad pleased!
Never done a build thread before. I've broken my cherry with the nomads!

| Right an update, Saturday I spent driving around the uk and collecting 2nd hand panels. 2X doors and a dash for the uncut radio hole for that factory look.
Injuries this weekend was a cutting disc down my index finger. Thats 3 gashes I have now.
Anyway, on Sunday I cut the front valance off, so I could fit the year correct one, which would mean I could use the original style bonnet. The old valance and bonnet were pre 67 style. I wanted the 70's 1200 front, as these are my favorite bugs. And mine is a base 1200.
The pics
My bugs got no nose, how does it smell etc etc.

Valance tacked on, bonnet fitted and adjusted, latch fitted. No lock at the moment, I did that before on my old 68 and jammed the bonnet shut. I just hope it latches and releases now! New 1200 style wings (cheers John GSF) Its got a new face!

And this evening, I trial fitted the new drivers door, a rust free VW heritage door thats had no use, just badly sprayed yellow.

Still to do. The Dash Trial fit the passenger door Fix the small amounts of rust flat it all down.
Paint in 3 weeks then I can relax over winter while I build it back up. |
